00:51 Tips from a Trip on a Ship
I just came back from a ten day cruise. Now, you didn’t miss me because I pre-recorded a few episodes! 🙂
Traveling is really hard on me. First, having chronic health issues makes leaving home for an extended period no picnic. But cruises, especially, are fraught with peril for addicts of any kind. Everywhere you turn, temptation rears its ugly head.
And, let’s face it, most of us don’t really like being out of our comfort zone. Without indulging in our addictions, we become acutely aware that we are not at home … and may even become bored and anxious to get back to our safe routine. That discomfort, in itself, can lead to relapse if we aren’t careful.
I’m profoundly grateful that I returned solvent, sober, and abstinent. So, today, I’m giving you some traveling tips and suggestions, based on my own hard-won lessons, to help you experience solvent traveling free from compulsive spending.
Among other topics, I talk about:
* How best to prepare for the trip
* How to navigate the push to excess that confronts you
* A warning about your return home
* Where you can find support on board, and
* Why you need to be cautious about the safe in the room
